Statutory Accountant

Hybrid Working - Central Birmingham - 3 days on site, 2 from home

SF Recruitment are delighted to be working with a high growth and highly acquisitve business based in Birmingham. This business are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Statutory Accountant to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and accounting standards. As the Statutory Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and liaising with external stakeholders. This role is suitable for a driven, dynamic and analytical individual who is Qualified with at least 2 years post qualification experience. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapid growth business and play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation.

Role:

  • Prepare and submit statutory financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP or IFRS.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, tax regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, including general ledger reconciliations and accruals.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the audit process, providing necessary documentation and resolving any queries.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, implementing necessary updates to internal procedures and reporting processes.
  • Monitor and analyse financial data to identify areas for process improvement and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide support to the finance team in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and tax teams, to ensure compliance and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain proper documentation and record keeping for all financial transactions and reports.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with significant experience in statutory accounting and financial reporting.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS and experience in preparing statutory financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with external auditors and managing the audit process.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
