Position Title
Finance Technician, Procurement and Accounting
Position Summary
The Finance Technician, Procurement and Accounting is responsible for supporting operations of Procurement and General Accounting in Finance. This includes analysis, preparation and completion of purchasing and accounting transactions and maintenance of required financial records. This position supports the Finance team with processing employee contracts, onboarding and other related responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities
- Reviews and processes purchase requisitions, purchase orders, change orders and other procurement related documents
- Assists wit competitive bidding and price quotes
- Administers corporate accounts
- Processes general accounting transactions and reconciles accounts
- Supports General Accounting area through the month end and year end processes
- Processes employee contracts, assists with onboarding and set up of new employees in Finance
- Maintains related records
- Performs other related duties under the direction of the supervisor
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of post-secondary training; completion of diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Accounting
- One to two years of related experience
- Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
- Basic understanding of purchasing law and supply chain management
- Understanding of accounting principles and standards, preferably for non-profit organizations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with integrated financial systems
- Understanding of collective agreements as they relate to the new employee contract processing

Additional time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays. *Eligibility to access the above mentioned benefits is dependent upon the AUPE Collective Agreement and related RDP policies.
Term-Certain 0.5FTE: An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
