- Responsible for ensuring completeness and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements including monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts, resolves found discrepancies and verifies validity of financial transactions
- Plays key role in meeting requirements of monthly accounting close as delineated by company close schedule
- Assists Controller with preparing recurring entries resulting from account reconciliations and adjusting journal entries as needed
- Assists Program Team with ad hoc requests for cost and expense reconciliations
- Provides GAAP/ FAR and other regulatory guidance to team members
- Maintains cash reconciliations and sees reconciliation items through to resolution across departments as needed
- Assists with compliance to applicable Government regulations including FAR, CAS and DCAA requirements.
- Supports year-end financial audit and assists in preparation of schedules required by outside auditors.
- Assists with timesheet compliance tasks
- Supports audits or inquiries initiated by DCAA or other third parties and prepares supporting schedules as needed.
- External Reporting – as directed by Controller- assists with preparation of select parent company required reports and submits requested inputs in an accurate and timely manner
- Proposes process improvements
- Assists with documenting standard operating procedures for the Team
- Assists with review and updates to Accounting policies
- Special Projects – Work on special projects as workloads allow, including incurred cost submission assistance, GSA fee reporting, and others as identified.
- This position will be a Hybrid position.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) and 5 or more years progressive Government accounting experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required.
- Working knowledge of FAR/CAS as well as Service Contract Act requirements
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of CostPoint
- Ability to handle a wide range of accounting operations and willingness to perform hands-on work is essential.
- The Senior Accountant must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision and must be able to interact with program staff and senior management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required • Strong mathematical and analytical skills required
- Proven organization skills and attention to detail is a must.
