A new opportunity for a Senior Finance Accountant is now available to join us on a 1 year Fixed term contract! Working Hybrid with 2 days a week in the amazing Hatfield Head offices and 3 days working from home!

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Finance Accountant (Group Reporting) is a key member of the Accounting team. The SFA is responsible for supporting the delivery of Half Year and Year End, improving the monthly reporting cadence, owning the management accounts and has an excellent understanding of Segmental rules.

What else will you be doing?

  • Working with the SFM and FM to lead the Half Year and Year End processes on behalf of Accounting
  • Close collaboration with the External Reporting team and wider accounting, ensuring a quick resolution to audit requests
  • Improving the monthly reporting cadence, assisting in performing dry runs for Half Year and Year End
  • Supporting the production of the statutory accounts
  • Preparation of the Primary Financial Statements (Income Statement, EBITDA reconciliation, Balance Sheet, Cash
  • Flow, SOCIE)
  • Provision of accurate numbers for all disclosures in the annual report and statutory accounts
  • Building excellent relationships across Finance, working to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Monitoring and reviewing Suspense account (including challenges and working with wider finance teams to identify and resolve aged balances)
  • Preparation of Flash Cash Flow and Management Cash Flow statement for monthly review meetings with the Heads of Finance, FDs and CFO.
  • Assisting in continuous improvement projects (including relevant systems) and testing (where required)
  • Proactively preparing and monitoring the monthly period-end calendar, challenging any push-back on tasks and understanding the knock on impact to GL close
  • Maintaining the Chart of Account files on a monthly basis, ensuring the approved CoA requests have been actioned correctly
  • Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations as required and raising any discrepancies appropriately
  • Assist in managing Group Reporting HY and YE processes, including the post-close adjustment process (maintaining the ETB, post-close journals)
  • Assisting with completion of ONS surveys
  • Providing oversight; understand variances and proactively identify problems and opportunities to standardise, streamline and improve processes and accuracy
  • Support the global process owner for record to report processes by driving process efficiency, effectiveness and compliance working closely with the Continuous Improvement team
  • Driving process governance and measuring process effectiveness
  • Working with and supporting senior members of Group Accounting to improve service offering.
  • Seeking continuous improvement and constantly challenging the team to improve quality of deliverables
  • Building and developing a high performing and engaged team, creating a culture of excellence
  • Driving the professionalisation of Ocado reporting and raising the bar on quality

About you

Essential skills and experience required

  • Fully Qualified Accountant with Relevant financial qualifications (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) and understanding of relevant regulatory environments
  • Good experience of a global financial operations environment with a track record of delivering effectiveness, efficiency and compliance targets /SLAs
  • Good knowledge of accounting, tax and reporting standards & principles,
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high growth, global organisation
  • Experience in delivering great customer / user experience
  • Experience in process improvement and automation
  • Ability to create clear plans and set objectives for the team
  • Outcome focused; ability to prioritise key activities in order to achieve outcomes
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset; to continually drive efficiency and performance
  • Support continuous learning/improvement (for self and teams)

Not essential but an advantage:

  • Ability to provide insight, using multiple data sources to support decision making
  • In depth understanding of core financial processes and relevant systems preferred (Oracle Fusion, FCCS, EPBCS)
