Morgan McLernon –We specialise in ambient, chilled, and frozen distribution throughout the UK and Ireland. Providing first class chilled and frozen transportation services to major retailers. With our wealth of knowledge and experience in the transport, distribution and shipping sector. We have been transporting perishable foodstuffs such as fruit, vegetables, and meat for over 40 years.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accountant is to ensure the absolute data integrity of all the individual balance sheet accounts within each month end trial balance, and to ensure that the business is fully compliant in respect of all its obligations in respect of HMRC reporting and procedures, including PAYE & VAT, and to assist in the month end management accounts.
Key Duties;
- To produce a reconciliation of each balance sheet account in the prescribed format with all supporting documentation as part of the period end management accounts
- Control of the owned and leased asset schedules
- Management of fuel cards to ensure accurate reporting and prevent misuse.
- To ensure statutory filings are made on time, eg Companies House and quarterly VAT
- To ensure that all payments and claims are made on time, such as VAT, payroll, supplier rebates, customer claims, vehicle and property rents and traffic fines.
- Assist, support, and provide cover for the management accountant in producing weekly and monthly management accounts.
- Working with other finance colleagues to produce weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Producing draft statutory accounts and a year-end audit file for inspection by external accountants
- Working with the Financial Controller to ensure the efficient conclusion of the year end external audit and an unqualified audit opinion.
- Assist across the finance team to ensure data integrity.
- ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant
- Ideally 2-3 years experience within a similar role
- Adaptable and flexible in approach to work
- Team player with the desire to work with and challenge appropriately finance and operational colleagues
- Ability to work and deliver to tight deadlines
- A background including logistics experience preferable but not essential
- Must have a higher level knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
