Job description
Job Summary
A successful candidate will assist in the preparation of accounting entries and reconciliations along with monitoring transactions for accurate recording. This position will also participate in state reporting and various special projects within financial services.
The salary range is $60,209 - $86,470 (12 months)
This position may allow for a hybrid remote work schedule (work from home for a portion of the workweek) within the state of Wisconsin.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent accounting experience.
- High skill level in Excel and other Microsoft products required.
- Experience in a large organization is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of training, education and experience may be considered
Responsibilities
- Assists with maintenance of the general ledger.
- Reviews and monitors cash receipts and other financial activity, and determines areas in need of adjustment.
- Prepares ongoing reconciliations.
- Prepares month-end and year-end journal entries as well as supporting schedules.
- Pursues financial issues with schools and departments.
- Organizes and categorizes large amounts of financial data.
- Adheres to district accounting policy with an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of accounting records and reports. Produces well-documented, quality work products and works effectively under pressure and tight timelines.
- Assists internal and external auditors as directed.
- Monitors, develops, and implements department policies, goals, and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of state financial reports and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
- Develops ad hoc revenue and expenditure reports as needed.
- Assists in department projects as needed.
- Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
