Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Waukesha office! Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Assistant completes administrative tasks related to the Finance & Accounting Department. The Accounting Assistant is responsible for reconciling vendor statements, entering cash receipts, performing bank reconciliations, processing checks to vendors, as well as some additional tasks listed below.
What You'll Be Doing
- Monitor certain internal and external facing accounting team mailboxes
- Assist team in performing monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist with annual bar dues renewals
- Enter financial transactions into internal databases
- Research unclaimed property and returned checks
- Complete audit requests
- Perform vendor statement reconciliations and correspond with vendors domestically and internationally to facilitate payment
- Process check requests by all 19 offices, as needed
- Making bank deposits
- Assist the Accounts Receivable team with entering cash receipts
- Send Clients Payment links via credit card processing software
- Upload invoices into expense management software and route invoices to ensure appropriate approval obtained before payment is processed
- Work collaboratively with the billing, payroll, and collections teams to meet internal and external client needs
- Additional duties and special projects as needed

Knowledge Base & Education:
- Requires a high school diploma and one to three years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience in a professional office environment
Accounting Skills:
- Experience with Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Applications
- Strong organizational skills
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy
- Superior project management skills to manage deadline-oriented role
- Experience with 3E - Enterprise Business Management software (preferred, not required)
- Working knowledge of electronic time and billing software and programs, (preferred, not required)

- Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
