Job Description:
The junior accountant will be responsible for assisting the controller and other financial professionals in organizing, maintaining, and analyzing financial records. The primary duties and responsibilities of the junior accountant include:
1. Recording financial transactions in the general ledger and ensuring that all entries are accurate and complete.
2. Reconciling bank statements and other financial records to ensure that all transactions are accounted for.
3. Conducting back-up account reconciliations and ensuring that all accounts are up-to-date and accurate.
4. Managing accounts payable and ensuring that bills are paid on time and accurately.
5. Conducting inventory reconciliations and assisting with inventory management.
6. Assisting with the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
7. Analyzing financial data and preparing reports to help senior accountants and other financial professionals make informed decisions.
8. Assisting with audits and other financial reviews.
9. Conducting research on accounting regulations and best practices to ensure that the organization is in compliance with applicable laws and standards.
10. Providing support to other departments within the organization as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
5. Knowledge of accounting software, such as QuickBooks or Sage.
6. Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
8. Familiarity with accounting principles and practices.
9. Willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
Salary Range:
The salary range for a junior accountant is between $50,000 and $55,000 per year, depending on experience, location, and other factors. The position will focus on general ledger and bank reconciliations, back-up account reconciliations, accounts payable, and inventory reconciliations, among other accounting tasks. The successful candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
