We’d like to welcome an Accounting Specialist I who will have the primary responsibility for performing a variety of accounting, administrative and operational tasks in an accurate and timely manner while acting as the primary front office posting teller for the accounting department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITES:

• Assist with the daily balancing of the branches and credit union including preparation of the daily deposits and returned deposited items.
• Process incoming and outgoing wire requests from Members.
• Act as front office posting teller for the accounting department for returns, member inquires, and employee requests.
• Research member accounts when disputes arise and answer member inquiries accurately and timely.
• Post closed account activity to ChexSystems and the in-house Charge Off system.
• Assist with the balancing and distribution of the quarterly dividend checks and holiday club checks.
• Assist with the processing and collection of Member special collection items
• Assists with or completes researching and fulfilling all records requests from SSA Verifications, Levies and Subpoenas in a timely and accurate manner.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of college level accounting courses or equivalent accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
• Must be accurate, organized, and efficient.
• Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, members and vendors.
• Attention to detail a must.
