Job description
We’re looking for a hardworking, driven, and passionate candidate to join our Finance team as we get set for further growth in 2023, helping our owners to maintain their high-quality properties, and to ensure our guests receive the very best customer service whilst staying with us.
As an Assistant Accountant you will provide essential support to the finance team, Group Financial Controller, and management team in the smooth running of the day-to-day activities by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks. You will prepare budgets, maintain reports, and complete basic bookkeeping and accounting duties for the group.
As the Assistant Account you can make a big impact on our business, improving profitability and contributing to future growth. The Assistant Accountant’s financial reports will help shape the recommendations made by the Group Financial Controller to the wider business.
You will also deal directly with stakeholders and customers and handle queries relating to invoices and other accounting issues. You will be proactive and assertive, with a professional approach and a proven ability to communicate effectively to different members of the team. You will be organised, with the aptitude to prioritise your workload and have a good attention to detail, whilst being able to work well under pressure.
To be considered for this role you MUST have:
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data to make recommendations.
- Strong IT, excel and systems skills.
- Effective written and verbal skills.
- Be able to develops strong working relationships with colleagues across departments and with senior leaders.
- Able to multi-task, is organised and has good time management.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office
- Experience in balance sheet account preparation
- Strong bookkeeping skills.
- Understanding of budgetary principles
- Ability to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
- Practical Industry experience
- Good working knowledge of accounting routines, including month-end reconciliations
- A high technical aptitude.
- Accounting qualification such as AAT, Part Qualified or QBE.
- Associate degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience
And Day to Day? …….. You will be responsible for:
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data to make recommendations.
- Strong IT, excel and systems skills.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly management accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly board pack.
- Assist with cash flow and weekly forecasting.
- Intercompany invoicing and reconciliations.
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register.
- Utilisation of accounting software.
- Assist with process improvements and identify areas to improve efficiencies.
- Processing of accruals and prepayments.
- Work alongside other departments to collate information
