Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant

Job Purpose:
The role holder will be joining the team to provide extra capacity during a period of change, including the ongoing implementation of a new consolidation tool, FCCS. Simultaneously the MS ABS Head Office Finance Operation team will be producing comparative financial statements and disclosures.
The role holder will be working on a range of topics across the systems implementation and financial accounting activities within the remit of the MS ABS Head Office Finance Operation team such as:
Consolidated reporting for the MS Amlin group of entities under IFRS and Japanese GAAP
Head office reporting and production of disclosures under Japanese GAAP.
Supporting as directed from time to time other aspects of the MS ABS Finance team workload
Implementation of Oracle FCCS Consolidation Tool
Maintain financial close process documentation and training material ensuring this is regularly reviewed and updated as required
The role holder will be expected to look for operational efficiencies and improvements wherever possible. The role holder is expected to have ability to influence across the peer group to ensure all MS Amlin entity Finance Operations teams are supporting the MS ABS finance team to deliver quality results on a timely basis.
The role holder must be able to embrace changes as there will be significant amount of change from the beginning. The role holder must show initiative, be organised, have strong communication skills, and be proactive and committed to meeting deadlines. In addition, the role holder is required to be analytical to understand and investigate issues and help formulate solutions.
The role holder therefore must have excellent accounting and business knowledge. The job brings the responsibility for the above outputs but practically, they will be heavily dependent on other finance teams. The ability to work across the matrix structure and to facilitate broad engagement on the overall objective of sound financial controls and delivery to head office timelines is key.
Key Responsibilities:
Production of all required regular consolidated MS Amlin reporting within the MS ABS Head Office Finance Operations team responsibility, including production of consolidated financial statements and note disclosures;
Reporting to Head office requirements for quarterly/annual reporting and responding timely to ad hoc queries;
Adherence to the MS&AD reporting timetables and reporting standards, including preparation of MS Amlin group reporting timetables and instructions;
Adherence to the MS&AD Group's control framework, performing and documenting all required controls in a timely manner and to adequate quality standards;
Support the implementation of Oracle FCCS consolidation tool, with involvement in all aspects of data migration activities, user acceptance training and implementation of new processes and procedures;
Identification of process improvement opportunities and implement improvement and controls;
Assisting in analysing the impact of the latest technical accounting changes on the MS Amlin group's reporting and implementing changes to processes and procedures arising from new technical developments;
Assisting auditors with their audit of IFRS and Japan reporting;
Supporting as directed from time-to-time other aspects of the MS ABS Finance team workload;
Helping to implement and deliver major accounting projects (IFRS 17) and other changes;
Developing the reporting framework, ensuring compliance with relevant MS&AD reporting requirements
Requirements & Skills:
Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CA, ACA or CIMA)
3+ years of relevant experience
Group consolidation experience is essential
Technical accounting knowledge (GAAP and IFRS)
Insurance Accounting Experience
Experience/exposure to a multi-currency consolidations
Understanding of financial systems e.g. Oracle FCCS, Oracle GL
Investment accounting experience - desirable
Good analytical skills
