WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. This individual needs to have a strong attention to detail, minimum of two years of accounting experience, understanding of basic accounting principles and be familiar with accounting software.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As an Accounting Supervisor, you are responsible for accounting processes within the organization. This position will have oversight of the daily operations of the accounting department, including month-end close, year-end closing, audits, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, producing financial reports and statements, establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles, and providing direct and indirect supervision to the accounting team.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of a Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant and provide support when workload increases or in the absence of the Staff Accountant and Accounting Assistant.
  • Ability to manage projects including planning, establishment of objectives and timelines, procedures and standards and maintain records in a clear, logical manner.
  • Oversee the daily function of the accounting department, develop and follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure), assist with hiring, train and manage accounting assistants/staff accountants.
  • Prepares documentation for reconciliation, ensuring client billing is done in a timely manner and reported accurately in the accounting software.
  • Manage the company’s financial accounts, transactions and debts, bimonthly payroll, accounts payable and reconciliation.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information, summarizes financial status, prepares balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, federal, state, local, and special tax returns, and annual audits.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, including a friendly attitude, empathy towards users, patience, and a sense of urgency.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and reasoning abilities.
  • Willingness to change to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to process and maintain confidentiality while processing sensitive data.
  • Ability to recognize when an incident needs to be escalated.
  • This role has access to sensitive information security and is expected to adhere to all the policies in the ISO 27001 policy manual.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in a complex accounting environment.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
  • BA/BS degree in accounting, business, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Quickbooks, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting system.
