Job Title: Staff Accountant
Dept: Accounting
Location: Raleigh, NC. Hybrid role. Must live in NC.
Your impact:
As a Staff Accountant, you'll have the opportunity to use your analytical skills and detail orientation to maintain our accounting records and reports. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute your ideas for carrying out departmental projects and provide back-up support to your other team members.
The contributions you can anticipate making:
Reviewing, verifying, and reconciling journal entries and accounting classifications.
Applying your GAAP knowledge with minimal supervision.
Developing a thorough understanding of the entire general ledger and your transaction workflows by becoming the SME in assigned areas.
Performing accounting functions including more complex general ledger account reconciliations and analysis.
Assisting to improve efficiency and results within the department.
Maintaining systems and procedures to ensure adequate controls for accounting functions such as cash from bank accounts, advances, receivables, deposits, lending, federal reserve report filing, and misc. assets and liabilities.
Providing backup and support to other team members and assisting with departmental projects.
Seeking to expand current knowledge by learning about all areas in accounting.
Serving as a consultant to other departments by developing relationships within all areas of Coastal and increasing overall knowledge of all things Coastal.

Experience:
Two years of experience in an accounting position working with the general ledger, including preparation of general ledger account reconciliations/work papers.
Financial institution experience preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
