Position Objectives:
Performs clerical accounts maintenance work and bookkeeping duties of moderate difficulty and high volume involving preparation, processing, receipting, transaction recording, account reconciliation and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews assigned accounting documents, including, tax returns, exemption forms.
- Reimbursement requests, for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepares and mails/email correspondence as needed.
- Receives, records, and applies payments.
- Posts transactions to the general ledger.
- Calculates and records adjustments in accordance with Department procedures,
- Reconciles accounts.
- Responds to inquiries.
- Prepares specialized financial reports as needed.
- Maintains files in accordance with the City’s retention schedule and confidentiality requirements when
- Follows all City and Department policies and operating procedures and applicable federal and state laws.
- Assists in preparations for annual financial audit.
- Assists in updating financial policies and procedures.
- Cross-trains for other duties within the department as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desirable Training and Experience:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to process and post high volume of data with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Experience and/or Education:
- Minimum 2 years bookkeeping experience.
- Post-secondary courses in accounting and bookkeeping preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.

The employee must be able to continuously remain in a stationary position; continuously operate a computer and

Work Environment: Work generally performed in an office setting open to the public on weekdays from 8am- 5pm.
