Our client is an international law firm with 21 offices across the globe and currently has over 1000 staff. The firm has won many awards over the years including International Law Firm of the Year.

They are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable manager to join the well-established and growing commercial accounts team providing support to the immediate team, pricing function and the fee earning community across the firm as a business facing member of the accounting department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial, financial and analytical support to the practice groups, providing financial analysis for the commercial accounts team and senior management designed to drive the right behaviours that enhance profitability.
  • Supporting wider non-finance, commercial accounts and pricing teams by scrutinizing the financial performance of the practice groups through routine reporting and ad-hoc requests and providing bespoke reporting where needed.
  • Taking the lead in supporting and advising MBD by reviewing requests for data, providing relevant reporting and simple analysis of results and applying to relevant strategy.
  • Support wider projects and initiatives led by the commercial accountant and pricing teams designed to enhance financial performance and improve profitability.
  • Be an advocate for wider projects and initiatives led by Commercial Accountants designed to enhance financial performance.
  • Provide support for the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Work alongside the financial systems team to develop reporting capability in Power BI.
  • Deliver monthly analysis and commentaries that focus on action and improved performance.
  • Recognise the key levers that impact KPIs and providing supplementary analysis and input on agenda topics for business reviews.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and financial modelling that drives improved financial performance and increased profitability.
  • Invest in and develop close relationships with the partners, aiming to become their trusted advisor.
  • Develop a deep understanding of all aspects of the strategic and financial drivers and performance of different practice groups including Pipeline and Working Capital.
  • Work with the partners within your groups to research the wider financial context and identify developments within the markets they operate in and changes which will have an impact on their practice areas.
  • Understand and assist in implement of the strategic direction of the practice groups.
  • Gain an understanding of the products of the respective practice groups in order to support the business with the pricing of their products including the supporting and driving of the Cost Management tools.
  • Support the senior commercial accounts managers around business reviews and in partnership with HOD drive best practice and behaviours with the aim of improving profitability within the practice group.
  • Act as a mentor / sounding board to the junior members of the team and support their development.

Candidate Profile

  • Effective time management is essential. The Commercial Accounts team work in a fast paced and sometimes demanding environment, at times working against competing deadlines.
  • Strong Excel proficiencies. Examples where experience would be beneficial are (but not limited to) pivot tables, conditional formatting, data validation and other advanced functions.
  • Pride in delivery of excellence. Excellent service delivery (time and quality) while maintaining good internal and external relationships and effective communication to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Communication & interpersonal skills. This position involves liaison with colleagues across all levels, distilling financial information to those in both financial and non-financial roles.
  • People skills (teamwork). Working collaboratively with the wider commercial accounts team and finance department. Good people skills are essential for cooperation and teamwork.
  • Focus on accuracy and attention to detail. To become a reliable and trusted advisor.
  • Proficient mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Pricing experience is preferred but not essential.
