The Team
The Group Finance team supports and drives the financial success of Addleshaw Goddard. We strive to deliver a first class service to our stakeholders and to be a great team to work with and be part of. The Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing and Legal Cashiering.
Purpose of the Role
Ownership of all financial management information relating to the business services area alongside the Head of Department. Establish relationships and be the number one point of contact for all financial needs including business partnering. Providing commercial financial management to the Head of Department, Chief Financial Officer, Head of Finance and other stakeholders in order to meet the Departments key objectives and plans.
Role
The following list of duties is not exhaustive but gives a flavour of the duties the Business Services Finance Accountant undertakes:
- Work closely with the Financial Management Team (FMT) and Heads of Department to prepare and achieve plans
- Work with the FMT and function to maximise value and aid commercial decision making
- Prepare financial statements including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, cost reports and variance analysis
- Manage work in progress with variance analysis to ensure tight control of costs
- Work with the FMT and function to identify areas and methods to improve procedures
- Ownership of accruals and prepayments
- Monthly and weekly reports i.e. high level dashboards and commentary
- Represent Finance to the business, discussing aspects of financial performance, proactively identifying and challenging issues, supporting change management and gaining commercial insight
Knowledge, skills and experience required (bespoke to role)
- Hold a professional accountancy qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
- Must be able to work effectively, build relationships and be able to influence with complex and dynamic matrix organisation structure
- Ability to work within a strong team and develop positive relationships with both Finance and non-Finance colleagues
- Excellent IT Skills including all Microsoft products
- Be self-motivated and must have the drive to solve problems and promote continuous improvement
- Strong verbal, written communications and ability to influence others
- Ability to set and work to targets and meet competing deadlines
- Service oriented with experience of stakeholder management
- Be comfortable analysing and presenting financial information
