Job description
This is an entry level position within a five-person commercial Property Accounts Team, supporting and working closely with the group’s wider Commercial Estate Management Team.
You will be aiding in the management of one of the largest commercial property portfolios within London, working with over 1,200 business tenants, ranging from large multi-nationals to new startups and sole traders, and assisting the Accounts Team with the diverse, novel and, moreover, interesting challenges managing such a portfolio presents.
The role is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking to start their accountancy career and will focus on the general management of the accounts receivable account payable function, general administration to support the Commercial Estate Management Team along with associated ad-hoc reporting.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Posting and allocating payments receipts onto our bespoke property management systems.
- Managing and responding to tenant accounts and billing queries.
- Management of the company’s utility business rates liabilities.
- Ensuring the Property Management Team is aware of any billing related issues.
- Maintaining the company’s physical invoice records.
- Completing quarterly VAT returns
- Producing periodic management/KPIs reports
- Generating rent, utility and any miscellaneous invoices required from time to time by the Property Management Team.
- Assisting the with the drafting of tenancies agreements and other legal documents.
- Responding to surveyor/solicitor queries and information requests concerning the business’s rental properties.
Requirements:
The role will suit entry level candidates or those who have just started their accountancy careers and wish to develop their accounting knowledge and experience within a finance/Property Accounts role.
The candidate will benefit from being able to demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Excellent communication skills, written and spoken
- Good computer literacy and Excel skills, including V-Lookups and pivots tables
- Experience with Sage 200 or similar accounting software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team whilst using own initiative
- Willingness to be involved in VAT returns, insurance, credit control and any other matter which the Head of Property Services requires assistance with
- previous experience or progress towards a suitable accountancy qualification being beneficial but not essential
