Job description
At Hyphen, we envision a future where everyone is equipped with the skillset, inspiration and community support to make their unique dent in the world.
We are a B2B edu-tech startup building a talent development platform which empowers organisations to develop Gen-Z employees (0-4 years experience) with the relevant power and hard skills.
We are fortunate to partner with some of the best people in the space, are backed by world-class investors and have raised a substantial pre-seed round (the largest edu-tech pre-seed round in Europe in 2022) from one of Europe’s top VC’s.
Now we are looking for our founding Account Executive (f/m/x) to build our sales function from scratch and lead all sales-related efforts going forward. Together, we'll enable 1 million young professionals to learn the skills to succeed in the future of work.
We are based out of a beautiful office in central London but offer fully flexible working arrangements.
Role overview:
This is the first sales role at Hyphen and you’ll be responsible for securing organizations to leverage our learning platform for early career talent. We have successfully identified initial ICPs and closed the first clients.
We’re hiring sales talent early as we know how crucial it is to hear from the market and drive revenue from the get-go. You’ll own the 360 sales cycle, as well as decide on our sales platforms, tools, and processes, before hiring an SDR.
We want you to have ambitions to grow into a Head of Sales role in the medium term and will support you in your journey from day one.
What’s the role:
Work closely with our COO, Oliver, on defining targets and GTM to B2B customers.
Hire and work with the SDR on building a B2B pipeline, including identifying key personas within companies, sectors, industries and company stages.
Understand the challenges prospective customers face and build and deliver ROI assessments.
Build repeatable and scalable outreach sequences and tactics to drive engagement from prospects.
Generate meetings and pitch to prospective clients with or without members of the leadership team.
Provide metrics to the leadership team on performance and areas where support is required.
Who are you:
We know - sometimes, you can't tick every box. We would still love to hear from you if you think you're a good fit!
At least 3+ years of experience as an SDR and/or 2+ year experience as an AE in high-growth (preferably SaaS) startups/SME.
You master MEDDIC to drive and grow your opportunities.
Previous experience with phone and email outreach, prospecting, lead qualifying and developing and delivering pitches.
Comfortable with rejection, pushbacks and loves an objection - as well as a failure - and sees it as a learning opportunity.
A super strong communicator; we’re looking for someone who can articulate our value proposition and the problems we’re solving for companies.
Experience setting targets and managing junior sales talent.
Passion for education and empowering people is a must!
(Ideally) based in London (we sponsor Visas) - we’re remote by definition but most team members come into the office on a daily basis.
What you’ll get:
Be part of Hyphen: A unique opportunity to join a highly driven team of exceptional individuals right at takeoff and help build and shape a healthy, mission-driven company to improve the lives of millions.
Competitive package: attractive compensation, including employee stock options. We have VC backing and a strong operational, execution-driven support network.
Path to Head of Sales: We have ambitious plans and want to have 1000 active learners and 50 - 100 customers within the next 12 months, and we want you to grow into the Head of Sales role until then and will support you in your journey.
Build and develop your own team & set your culture: You will not only work with us on the overall strategy of the start-up, but you will also manage, grow and set a culture for your own team.
Hybrid working environment: We encourage everyone to come in 3~ days a week - and you can also work from abroad regularly. But, we've seen that people come in 4-5 days. Why? We have an amazing office (see below), snacks and a lot of fun at work.
Amazing Private Office: We work out of a shared office building next to Oxford Circus where we have our dedicated private office. Check it out here.
We will get you set up: Operating system and hardware of your choice, additional tech equipment that you need, screens, you name it - we want to enable you to do your best work.
Wellbeing support: A monthly sport and well-being budget can be used according to your preferences.
Lifelong learning and personal development: We will jointly develop a personal development plan that will enable you to achieve your professional goals. All related costs, e.g. coach, courses etc. will be covered by your annual L&D budget of GBP 1,000.
There’s more! Enjoy flexible working hours, and events (brunch or dinner) and join regular off-sites and work actions (the next one is in September in Spain).
What else to know:
Please also apply if you don't tick all the boxes in our description. We know that no candidate is ever perfect for the role and that there will be people out there who bring things to the table we haven't even thought of yet (and are super excited by this!).
