As an Accounts Payable Manager you will be responsible for the management and development of the Accounts Payable team of 17 with two direct reports. The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for the correct accounting of payable transactions ensuring they are processed and paid within agreed contracted terms, applying best practice within a strong control framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day management of the Accounts Payable Team – GFR and GNFR
- Set and monitor KPI targets for the teams
- Ensure the smooth operation of payment runs with adequate checks that correct payments are made to the correct creditor
- Provide technical accounting advice on financial transactions to ensure accurate coding
- Ensure that all tasks are accurate and completed within given deadlines
- Ensure key supplier account reconciliations are carried out on a regular basis
- Ensure that all supplier queries are concluded and dealt with in a timely manner
- Control and manage the supplier debit balances
- Recommend process changes and draw up process maps
- Ensure all bank reconciliation items are cleared in a timely manner
- Work closely with the Heads of Department regarding the ongoing development /maintenance of current systems
- Monitor Service Level Agreement processing timescales / KPI monitoring in the Accounts Payable team to understand volumes and processing patterns and accuracy of input
- Regularly review procedures and resource requirements
- Ensuring payment terms are adhered to and EBITDA impact maximised by taking advantage of prompt payment discounts etc
- Ensuring that the closure of Accounts Payable month end reporting is completed, valid and correct ready for month end close and closedowns are completed with commentary as appropriate
- Control account and key balance sheet reconciliations
- Undertaking month end accounting entries to include, GRNI, Intercompany journals and accruals
- Regular review of supplier payment terms and distribution of supplier turnover data
- Minimum of two years' Accounts Payable management experience
- Experienced in multi-site retailerStrong Organisational Skills
- Experience within a high-volume transactional department
- Strong people management experience and experience of developing a team
- Strong Time Management Skills
- Ability to lead by example
- Ability to manage conflict
- Intermediate / Advance Excel skills
