Founded in 1999, Speciality Drinks is a fast-growing and world-renowned international spirits company. In November 2021 it became part of the Pernod Ricard Group and is an independently managed business. It was one of the first multi-channel, multi-market global drinks distributors. It is made up of four group companies, one of which is Whisky.Auction. Whisky.Auction is a leading online platform for buying and selling whisky, fine spirits, miniatures and memorabilia. We are looking for an experienced Account Manager who has a passion for old and rare spirits to join the team.
This role will build relationships with some of our existing treasured customers but will specifically be responsible for generating new business and bringing in new accounts. It will provide support for the Auction Manager and the wider Auction business. Working with an amazing range of old and rare bottles of whisky and fine spirits, and cultivating relationships with our customers around the world, you will be working with the Whisky.Auction team to source the fine, rare and desirable whiskies and other spirits for sale through the auction. In this highly competitive environment, it will be critical to success that the role holder is able to think strategically but is also hands-on and agile in adapting to changing circumstances. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and results driven. Flexible working hours and some travel may be required on occasion in order to meet the necessary demands of our client base.
Your unique contribution
- Prospect and cultivate new business through research & networking across collectors and the trade to reveal all potential opportunities and turn these into profitable accounts for Whisky.Auction
- Management of long-standing valued existing accounts and ensure that the relationship continues to grow and prosper
- Work closely with the different business functions to deliver a high level of integrated customer service and find solutions
- Review current processes with a view to find opportunities for improvement and communicate these internally and externally
- Continually develop and grow understanding of spirit categories to add value to our customer base through top class knowledge and advice
- Adopt a consultative approach to deliver real value for our customers through relevant support requests
- Work to achieve Whisky.Auction annual targets set by Auction Director through relationship building, strategic planning and successful tendering for large collections
- Take on projects or duties that go beyond the remit of own role but support the wider business through mentoring other members of team; working cross-functionally to influence positive outcomes for the customer and business

- Track record in working with the high-end trade delivering customer service excellence
- Excellent account management skills
- Experience of selling luxury and/or specialist products
- Ability to solve complex problems, foresee and mitigate potential issues
- Able to think strategically
- A strong knowledge of the world of whisky and other spirits, an understanding of not just the products but their value too
- Good presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Commercial acumen
- WSET advanced certificate desirable
- IT Literate, in particular using Excel, Word, Power Point
