Job description

Rowden Technologies is an ambitious, fast-growing technology company based in Bristol. We exist to ensure that those who make the world a safer place benefit from the best in technological innovation. We design and integrate systems, and research and develop technologies that enable the armed forces, security agencies and first responders to do their jobs more effectively.

We’re a team of passionate, hard-working, and friendly people who are experts in our fields. As a company, we’re committed to creating an awesome place to work, where all our people can excel at what they do.

Account Manager - UK Government

Our team is Sales and Marketing team is expanding, and we’re looking for an Account Manager who is ambitious and obsessed with solving complex problems for government customers.

As an Account Manager, you will work with government clients and front-line users to understand their objectives and maximise the value they can achieve from our products and services across a range of technical areas: systems, software, sensors, and cloud. You will be responsible for driving revenue growth within your customer account through bespoke solution development, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration with our project delivery teams.

To hit the ground running in this role and deliver value, you must have significant and verifiable experience in one or both of the following areas:

  • Technical expertise: Networks, cloud, solution architecture etc. These are complex, bespoke technical capabilities used across different mission sets. This is not SaaS selling.
  • Commercial expertise: Regulated procurement, government routes to market, etc. Government sales cycles are long and complex, and Account Managers must be able to get into the detail of the commercials to remove constraints and deliver value through a range of delivery models and government routes to market.

You’ll apply these specialisms to help customers overcome the barriers that restrict their ability to procure and deliver capabilities at pace, whilst enabling our team to proactively develop solutions and go after new opportunities. You’ll be working alongside new and existing government customers and ecosystem partners to build complex systems - single product line tech account managers are unlikely to succeed.

This is a position with significant upside, and we are keen to hear from individuals who value career progression in a highly dynamic scale-up environment.

Reporting to:
Head of Sales and Marketing

The Role & Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain authentic, enduring relationships with government customers and technology ecosystem partners, working to understand their biggest challenges.
  • Develop and drive a comprehensive account plan, underpinned by rigorous market and customer analysis.
  • Proactively dentify, develop, and close new opportunities and follow-on work, involving technical or commercial solution architecting, bid development, and contract negotiation.
• Track and maintain customer satisfaction as part of project delivery and maintain a strong feedback loop with deployment engineers and project managers. • Closely collaborate with engineering delivery teams to help customers optimise value against their investment and ensure contract objectives are being met and measured.
  • Maintain a detailed awareness of relevant market trends affecting your account.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience
  • Strong proficiency in solution architecting and/or complex procurement problem-solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to cohere activities and maintain strong feedback loops between project delivery and sales teams.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Authenticity, empathy, and a detailed awareness of our customers’ challenges and evolving needs.
  • A values-led, mission-focused attitude and a commitment to delivering benefits for users.
  • A self-starter who will relish the responsibility that comes with the role.
