Job description

We have been a leading figure in publishing for more than 500 years. We have always been a forward-looking organization, maximizing the technology for the day, but the digital revolution is bringing enormous change, fast. That same spirit of adventure and entrepreneurialism is critical to our future success. In a fast changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.

The OUP UK corporate sales team are based in Oxford and help connect clients with their target audiences. We offer a range of advertising and publishing solutions and are constantly innovating our digital product range. We work in a fast-paced, energetic, and collaborative way and are seeking an Account Manager to sell digital advertising for some of our most prestigious medical journals.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your goal will be to drive revenue for journals published on behalf of society partners in some of the most important medical research areas in the world. You will be representing OUP journals to advertising agencies and direct to pharmaceutical and device companies, building lasting relationships and developing your own personal brand as an expert in the healthcare advertising space.

You will be managing relationships with existing clients as well as pro-actively seeking out new ones and focusing on taking the reins to generate new sales. You will meet your clients face-to-face at international conferences, via telephone and email and via Teams meetings. You will be a creative thinker, able to offer flexible solutions to best meet your clients’ needs.

Responsibilities

  • Meet targets through client nurturing and creative thinking
  • Develop a pipeline of leads and track them in SalesForce
  • Craft clear and impactful emails in response to client queries and for client prospecting
  • Meet clients at international conferences and at face-to-face and Teams meetings
  • Work with colleagues to collate vital information for clients in a timely manner and ensure that OUP products are highlighted effectively through the media kit website
  • Input into developments for new digital advertising products
  • Acquire the expertise to become a client consultant, advising on how to achieve the best results through a variety of digital methods

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

ABOUT YOU

Your ability to quickly develop product and market knowledge is key, as is building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You must have strong organisational skills and the ability to nurture clients throughout the sales cycle.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous advertising sales experience, experience working for an advertising agency or sales experience in a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to frame a message in a clear, concise, and compelling way
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively to ensure that deadlines are met
  • The desire to hit targets and the creativity to find new ways of hitting them if market conditions are tough
  • An understanding of digital advertising and the healthcare market is desirable.

Please note that the role has a requirement for international travel to meet with clients at medical conferences – this may occasionally include weekends, but time off in lieu will be given where weekends are worked.
