Job description
This is an exciting time to join an organisation with an essential role in the UK’s tertiary education sector.
We are a world-leading quality agency with unmatched experience of providing impartial regulatory and collaborative quality assurance and enhancement. We support universities and colleges in working with students and learners, governments, funders and regulatory bodies to evidence and enhance the excellent quality and high standards of the education they provide.
We work towards a greater public understanding - domestically and internationally - of how excellent quality is demonstrated in UK higher education, and how autonomous providers both assure its delivery and address weaknesses. Our work safeguards the value of qualifications for students and learners, and protects and promotes the reputation of higher education.
Position:
We are looking for an Access to Higher Education Diploma Manager. This is a key role that will manage our regulatory and licensing activity in relation to the Access to Higher Education Diploma, a level 3 qualification designed to support adults wishing to acquire knowledge and skills required to successfully gain entry to a higher education course in the future. You will work to develop and implement processes and activities, putting our regulatory requirements into action.
This is an exciting time to join the team. We are planning significant changes to the way in which we regulate the Diploma, and the postholder will play a key part in the development and implementation of these changes. QAA has an ambitious vision for the Diploma, and wishes to ensure its continued success within the level 3 qualification environment. In addition to securing a strong regulatory foundation for the qualification, you will also identify and implement strategies for managed growth in certain areas. Further, you will take a lead in our stakeholder management, working closely with the licensed Access Validating Agencies (the bodies that award the qualification), and other stakeholders including government and sector agencies and departments.
Requirements:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting access into higher education, particularly for adult learners, and has a good understanding of qualification awarding processes and the regulatory environment. You will be confident in leading a small team, and managing across both strategic projects and operational activities, ensuring effective and timely delivery. You will have a good understanding of risk and when to take action in order to protect the qualification and the students studying it, and you will be someone who will balance this with a collaborative approach, building rapport and credibility with stakeholders.
