Job description
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Access Service within Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions (SRMA). We are looking for someone with a passion for widening access and supporting young people’s transition to University, irrespective of their background. This role will provide you with an opportunity to use your skills to support underrepresented groups in securing work experience opportunities, embed mentoring throughout our programmes and help Y13 students transition to becoming registered students with the University.
Our ideal candidate will be educated to a A level standard or have relevant experience. You will have strong organisation skills, experience of working with groups who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education and experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders. We work closely together as a directorate, so we are looking for someone who can collaborate, share successes and identify areas of opportunity. It will be vital for the chosen candidate to develop relationships with businesses and other stakeholders that advance the widening access agenda and provide attainment raising or skills based opportunities to the young people we advocate for.
You will work in a well-connected team with nationally recognised partners and initiatives such as The Brilliant Club ‘Join the Dots Programme’, Grits ‘CoachHE’ and Sutton Trust Summer Schools with whom we partner to deliver impactful opportunities for our students. You will be essential to supporting both the Access Service and wider SRMA team, helping to secure the reputation of the University with respect to it’s widening access activity. The main focus will be operational and logistic support for the service across these innovative programmes and our mentoring and transitions activity.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to the greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
