Salary: Between £34,373 to £42,966, dependent on experience + pension + 25 days holiday + Company Van (Electric - charging points at Academy locations)
Location: Esholt Academy, BD17 7QU
*This role requires travel across the whole of the Yorkshire Water estate*
Purpose of the role
As our Academy Trainer/Assessor, you will be responsible for the delivery of training and/or assessment of Yorkshire Water Colleagues and commercial customers in Health & Safety and Plant, Tools and Equipment-related qualifications. You will deliver consistently high levels of teaching, learning and assessment standards and motivate delegates to raise their ambitions and realise their full potential.
Key responsibilities
Our Academy Trainer/Assessor will ensure that all work functions are undertaken in accordance with health and safety legislation and Yorkshire Water codes of practice and will also:
- Design, develop and deliver Health and Safety (H&S), Plant, Tools, and Equipment training products, falling into own area of expertise
- Coach individuals/small groups about H&S principles in line with products and industry-standard policies and procedures
- Ensure delegates receive and complete all required documentation to satisfy Yorkshire Water and Awarding Body requirements
- Monitor current legislation and internal processes related to areas of the training catalogue and update as required
- Maintain the assessment system from planning through to final decision-making and recording process as required by Yorkshire Water and our awarding bodies
- Assess evidence of delegate competence against the national standards of occupational competence, relevant to the qualification and ensure the validity, authenticity of supporting documentation provided by delegates
- Maintain accurate and verifiable delegate assessment and achievement records as required by the awarding body
- Adopt a holistic approach to assessment process as required by the awarding body
- Provide feedback to delegates on assessment decisions
- Contribute to our internal quality assurance process and attend moderation / standardisation meetings where required
- Deliver other vocationally relevant training as directed by the Curriculum Delivery Lead/Academy Manager

- Undertake other relevant duties that may be determined by Yorkshire water, including the submission of relevant reports as required by the Academy Manager.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Essential:
Our Academy Trainer/Assessor will hold the following qualifications as a minimum; Qualification in Plant Operations and/or RTITB, NPORS, PLUS; Assessor Award (D32, D33, A1 Assessor Award, TAQA or Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement); Level 3 Award in Education & Training, Ptlls, Ctlls, Dtlls, Cert Ed or equivalent. You will also:
- Have previous experience of delivering Health & Safety, Plant, Tools, and Equipment related teaching, learning and assessment activities, including legislative health and safety requirements
- Be a strong communicator, able to articulate their knowledge and course/assessment material to delegates
- Experience of teaching/assessing delegates in the workplace, demonstrating flexibility and tailoring communication styles for the audience where required
- Liaise effectively with relevant stakeholders in delegate work areas and be able to work both independently and as part of a team
Have sufficient occupational competence in Plant including:
- A17 – Telescopic Handler
- A36 – Lorry Loader
- A64 – Overhead Travelling Crane
Desirable:
- L4 Certificate in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA)
- Experience of working in the highways Industry NRSWA 1991, Highways Act 1980, TMA 2004
- Understanding of construction operations & Civil engineering including, Kerbs & Channels, Drainage, Modular Paving, Concreting, Excavation & Reinstatement and General Construction work
- NPORS/RTITB/ALLMI Instructor/Examiner
- A09 – Forward Tipping Dumper
- A14 – Masted Rough Terrain Forklift
- A16 – Industrial Forklift Truck
- A21 – Wheeled Loading Shovel
- A23 – Skid Steer Loader
- A33 – Agricultural Tractor
- A73 – Plant and Vehicle Marshaller
- A58 – Excavator below 10 tonnes
- A59 – Excavator above 10 tonnes
- IOSH Managing Safely
A Full UK Driving Licence is essential as travel will be required to sites across the Yorkshire Water Network.
