KI Languages Torquay is looking to recruit an Academic Manager for its junior summer school, which runs from June 12th to August 11th 2023. Ideally candidates will be available to start on May 2023 , giving them three weeks to finalise academic preparations before the start of the program.

The Academic Manager works alongside the DoS to support the teaching team and assist with academic administration and the delivery of the KI Torquay junior summer academic program. They ensure all students have the best Kaplan Experience through top quality customer service and by making the welfare and safeguarding of students a priority.
Duties
To oversee the academic management of a junior summer school for students aged 12-17
To have direct operational academic management of a team of up to 8 teachers
To manage the testing, placement, and induction of new students each
To monitor and report on student attendance, issuing warnings and any other administrative processes that support the smooth running of the academic operations of the junior summer school
To ensure teachers keep accurate and up to date registers and records of work including materials used in class
To report any absences according to school procedures
To arrange for cover for absent teachers if required in order to ensure lessons are taught as advertised
To liaise with the School Manager and his team of Activity Leaders, and with the school Accommodation team, to help ensure that students are provided with learning support to help them achieve maximum benefit from the extracurricular elements of their program
To manage the weekly departure of students and ensure they receive their certificates of attendance
To provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers at all times
To be helpful and courteous to students and their representatives
To run weekly CPD training sessions for teachers
Compliance
To have a good working knowledge and understanding of procedural documents and KIL policies relevant to the role
To be familiar with all British Council inspection criteria relevant to the department
To undertake required compliance training, including Safeguarding training, and to adhere to our Data Protection policies
General
To be proactive about both your personal and professional development including attendance/completion of all compulsory training sessions and to actively participate in any training offered
To undertake other duties as deemed necessary by line manager
Qualifications (Essential)
Bachelor’s degree
TEFLI Status - For example via a CELTA/Cert TESOL or equivalent
Qualifications (Highly Desirable)
TEFLQ Status - For example via a DELTA/Dip TESOL or equivalent
Experience (Essential)
Experience in administration work (preferably in an ELT environment)
Experience in developing learner autonomy
Experience in effective student counselling and tutorials
Experience in using IWBs in the classroom
Experience in working in a customer-facing environment
Considerable EFL teaching experience
Experience (Desirable)
Experience in ELT management
