Academic Manager
£36,500 - £38,500 per annum + benefits
Are you a teaching professional looking to use your passion for academic excellence to contribute to delivering an outstanding academic experience for students at UWE Bristol’s International College?
We are seeking an Academic Manager to join our successful team and help us provide stimulating, effective teaching to international students preparing to study programmes at the University of the West of England. You will primarily provide strategic and operational support for the Business, Law Social Science progression routes as well as contributing your subject expertise to enhance the students’ learning inside and outside the classroom.
The College
Part of Kaplan International Pathways, University of the West of England Bristol’s International College (UWEBIC) operates in partnership with the UWE Bristol to provide a pathway for international students to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University. UWEBIC is a special place, where each year we see students from all over the world flourish as they prepare for university life. At the heart of our educational approach is a belief in supporting students to become independent, motivated learners who will thrive in higher education. We are particularly interested in attracting committed teaching professionals who are passionate about their subject, open to incorporating technology into their teaching delivery and interested in finding new ways of bringing a curriculum to life.
The Opportunity
Academic Managers use their knowledge of teaching and learning to deliver a high-quality academic experience to our diverse, international student body, whilst supporting and motivating a team of committed teachers to perform to the best of their ability. We are looking to appoint an Academic Manager who will contribute to the strategic development of business, law, and social science teaching within the College, as well as departmental operations and administration.
Academic Managers also maintain teaching responsibilities. For example, you will:
plan and deliver high-quality teaching, leading by example for other tutors in the College;- contribute to the ongoing review and re-design of our curriculum and assessment practices, both within the College and across the wider Kaplan network; and
- support Tutors and contribute to the College’s continuous professional development programme.
We are keen to hear from education professionals with a PGCE, PGCAP, or similar education qualification who can help the team to drive improvements in teaching and learning. We are in a phase of substantial growth, and this represents an opportunity to contribute to teaching and assessment strategies in the College.
