Academic Manager


Location: Brighton

Salary: £36,500 – £38,500 per annum

Fixed Term: 6th March 2023 – 15th September 2023


We are looking to recruit an Academic Manager to work in the Senior Academic Team. Initial area of responsibility is likely to be English Language and Academic Skills.

About the role


Were looking for an organised administrator and manager with great people skills to help oversee our team of teachers. To work with teachers and students in the smooth running of the course and helping our students to achieve their full potential.


The academic team work to deliver all aspects of the Kaplan Programme including academic, professional and personal skills.


Reporting to the Academic Leader, your responsibilities will include:


  • supporting students on their academic programmes
  • attending and running regular meetings
  • ensuring the student academic experience is of a consistently high standard, is flexible, responsive and meets the needs of all students within an area of the College
  • academic standards, including teaching, learning support and assessments within an area of the College
  • ensuring student feedback is collected effectively and used to enhance the student experience within an area of the College
  • the effective selection, management and continual development of a high-performing teaching team to ensure high-quality learning within an area of the College
  • the use of learning and teaching resources that support the successful achievement of students within an area of the College
  • the effective measurement of the student learning experience that allow all students to reach their potential within an area of the College
  • managing a team
  • innovation and development of learning and teaching within an area of the College
  • Working with both internal and external stakeholders including the relevant university partner/s, regulatory bodies and other Kaplan Pathways teams
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by your manager


About you


  • Strong commitment to student-centred approaches to learning and teaching
  • Experience of managing a curriculum area/s
  • Knowledge of the needs of international students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong resource allocation and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyse data to make informed conclusions
  • Ability to work collaboratively across a range of teams
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and preferably a UK Master’s degree or higher
  • A teaching qualification is desirable
  • Any other duties as required from time to time by the College
