As 3rd Line Server Analyst, you'll be an experienced IT server professional who will report directly to the IT & Infrastructure Manager.

About you
The role will require a strong understanding of Windows infrastructure services, Backup technologies (Zerto & Veeam), Veeam, Physical Windows clustering technologies and Physical server environments.
In addition, the role requires an understanding of the following certifications and regulations: ISO 27001 (ISMS), PCI DSS level 1 (SAQ A), Cyber Essentials Plus, GDPR and ITIL Service Management.
This is a hybrid role, based at the Brixworth, Northampton office 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
The role will entail, but not be limited to, the following:
- Security
- Secure-by-design principles
- Knowledge and understanding of security requirements set by ISO 27001, PCI DSS, CE+
- Patching & vulnerability management (Greenbone)
- Server hardening based on industry frameworks (NIST, Microsoft, SANS, etc)
- Server Analyst duties
- Implementing IT policies, procedures and best practices to meet the needs of the business and ensure they're being followed
- Supporting Windows and Linux servers and services including Exchange and File and Print, Active Directory, DNS
- Supporting and improving our VMware & Linux estate
- Ability to troubleshoot and find resolutions to complex technical problems across multiple tiers (web servers, application servers, DB servers, search cluster, backend services, load balancers and storage infrastructure)
- Performing root cause analysis on VMware products
- Supporting the SAN and shared storage infrastructures used by our VMware estate
- Ensuring good DR/Backup policies
- Managing security and patching policies for Windows servers
- Ability to dive into technical detail (SQL queries, stored procedures, SSIS packages and reports)
- Supporting the business’s technologies as listed below
- Supporting monitoring platforms including Greenbone, Logrhythm, Bandura etc.
- Delivering new technology solutions and enhancements as required by the business
- Carrying out performance tests on application delivery
- Remaining current with evolving technological products and features and constantly changing business needs, internal standards and industry best practice
- Recommending corrective action (including restarting services and rebooting servers) to restore systems during an outage
- Ensuring Server Ops environment hardware and software is properly documented, software licences and registration, equipment location and maintenance logs are kept up to date
- Offering knowledge and mentoring of 1st and 2nd line support to enhance the overall support
- Acting as an advisor on business and IT projects
- Being available for out of hours support as set out in the on-call rota
- Compliance and security standards
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, business licences and documented procedures
- Be instrumental in achieving certification and/or maintaining compliance to required standards such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials Plus and GDPR
- Adhere to all security procedures, ensure that security is considered as part of your day-to-day role and report any issues or non-compliances to the IT & Infrastructure Manager or COO, as appropriate
- Adhere to all legal and policy data protection requirements (as per the company policy and the data protection statement), ensure that data security is maintained at all times, that no unnecessary data is kept and that any non-conformances are reported as above
- Ensure all documents generated within the department adhere to document control procedures
- Maintain office and desk tidiness.
