Just 13 miles south of Manchester and a 15-minute train journey, is the attractive market town of Wilmslow. Here amongst the boutique shops and independent cafes and bars is the stunning Playdemic studio. Acquired by EA in 2021, Playdemic is home to the top 10 grossing, BAFTA winning mobile smash – Golf Clash. Having opened at the beginning of 2020, our award-winning, bespoke studio space offers conventional desk space as well as indulgent breakout areas, meeting rooms and alternative workspaces. The office has been designed to create an environment that encourages and allows our team to do their very best work.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a 2D Artist to join an experienced team of artists and animators working on Golf Clash to help drive our Season Pass content.
Responsibilities:
- Develop themed logos and associated branding for seasonal content, using existing 3D game assets or modelling/drawing your own, creating concepts and the final artwork for marketing and game-ready assets.
- Develop unique concepts, ideas, gags and character designs from drawing-board to game-ready artwork, collaborating with our design team and other artists/animators.
- Present ideas using mockups, storyboards or animatics.
- Ensure quality meets expectations whilst taking direction from the Leads and Art Managers.
- Ensure production art is created and integrated into game by working with the team.
- Ensure that the high-quality bar established by the Leads and Art Managers is achieved.
Requirements:
- Strong skillset in 2D drawing and graphic design with an aptitude/interest in character design.
- Ability to draw in a variety of styles.
- Visual storytelling/storyboarding skills.
- Display a knowledge of stylised anatomy in humans and animals with the ability to anthropomorphise objects and creatures.
- Able to capture facial expressions, gesture and movement.
- Experience with colour theory.
- Able to follow existing workflows.
- Knowledge of the animation and/or game development process.
- Ability to self-manage with good time management skills, able to consistently meet deadlines.
