Is this role right for you?

The Financial Crime Risk Management Summer Internship is an exciting opportunity to support the London-based FCRM team with a focus on the Global Banking & Markets division of a global bank headquartered in Canada for 10 weeks during Summer 2023.


You will gain unique insights into many of the bank’s business areas and learn the nature of the control framework that protects the bank against key financial crime risks including sanctions. You will learn how FCRM monitors the strategies employed by the bank to mitigate key risks as well as the responsibilities and mandates of the Bank’s ‘three lines of defence’.


What will my responsibilities look like?

  • Assist with implementing/enhancing the control framework in the 2nd line
  • Help to administer various monitoring activities
  • Prepare periodic reports for onward presentation
  • Pool and manipulate sources of data for analysis and reporting
  • Review the local regulatory environment within which the bank operates
  • Test existing control effectiveness
  • Complete an intern project assignment and present it to the wider team
  • Any other ad hoc work tasks assigned by management


Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you:

  • Are a penultimate year undergraduate student studying a relevant degree (e.g. Finance, Economics, Business etc)
  • Are a self-starter with an inquisitive mindset that is willing to learn
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Are a team-player with strong communication skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic with attention to detail and a focus to deliver
  • Have a reasonable standard of statistical literacy
