Type

Intern Analyst (Pipeline)

Your role

Do you want to know more about the participants and dynamics of corporate finance and capital markets? You could have the opportunity to:

  • understand how our clients, including (inter alia) corporates, institutions, private equity and governments, operate businesses and consider strategic objectives;
  • be involved in and contribute to the teams providing M&A advice and execution, including spinoffs, takeovers, exchange offers, takeover defence and formation of joint ventures;
  • get to know the markets through IPOs, capital raising and disposal/sale;
  • interact with the equities platform to get an insight into the investor community views and trends;
  • learn all about debt capital markets including corporate and emerging market bonds;
  • gain familiarity with structured products tailored to our clients’ funding and stake management needs (including ESG); and
  • learn how we analyse complex situations and develop the best strategy to maximize our clients’ diverse objectives.

Your team

You’ll be working in our Investment Bank’s Global Banking (Special Situations Group) business.
Supporting SSG team in all aspects of financing transactions for both institutional and wealth clients with a particular focus on:
  • Transaction monitoring
  • Preparing internal memos
  • Doing sector and company analysis and assisting in due diligence
  • Modelling corporate and deal cashflows
  • Reviewing and drafting TS
  • Reviewing and commenting on documentation
  • Assisting with transaction execution, syndication and hedging

You’ll learn how to use market data to develop researching skills and contribute to the creation of strategic materials for your teams and our clients in a dynamic environment.

Your expertise

You need to be in the penultimate or final year of your degree, or recently graduated but no more than 6 months from the start date of the internship. In addition, you need to have or be on track for a 2:1 (UK grading system) or the equivalent in your first undergraduate degree.

It doesn’t matter what you’re studying. (Really, it doesn’t.) But we’d like to see evidence that you can:

  • analyse a problem, take a view and come to a decision
  • plan, organise and communicate well
  • make things happen
  • stick with a task
  • work in a team
  • come up with ideas

Perhaps you’ve organised a fundraising event or taken part in team sports? Or persevered and passed an exam in a subject you found challenging? Think about how things you’ve achieved match the skills we’re after.

Alongside evidence for working well as part of a team, as part of demonstrating data analysis and content creation skills we are looking for candidates proficient in MS Office (notably Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with an ability to draw out and present key conclusions from their work. For Global Banking you need to be a high-performing candidate who can multi-task effectively, showcase strong time management skills, with an ability to work to defined deadlines

Your Program

On this internship, you’ll be a real part of the team, working with our experts and learning about the industry, our clients, our firm and a specific area of it. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to develop new skills and make contacts. And if you impress us, we might invite you to join our Graduate Talent Program once you’ve graduated.

Start date for the role is as soon as possible.
