Job Title: 2 x Personal Assistant/Support Workers
Hours: 22 hours per week
Working pattern: 2 week rolling rota – Week 1: Mon, Wed, Fri. Week 2: Tue, Thurs, Sat, Sun. Working hours to be discussed at interview stage. Hours could consist of 9am – 10am, 12pm – 4pm, 5pm – 6pm but flexibility will be required.
Rates of Pay: £11.00 per hour at all times
Work Area/Location: S60/S61 Rotherham and surrounding areas
Responsible to: Directly to the employer
Closing date: 6th March 2023
About the Job: The purpose of the role is to provide support and assistance to the employer with everyday living tasks. The employer is in their mid 40’s and has a wide variety of interests including sci-fi and creative writing, they also love being outdoors. The employer is blind and has other health conditions which means they require support with a variety of tasks including personal care, preparation of food/drinks, domestic tasks, attending appointments and accessing the community. Further details of tasks are listed below.

Main Tasks:
Personal Care: Support with morning routine of washing/shaving/dressing, support with toileting needs, support with prompting and administering medication
Domestic: Support with food/drink preparation, prompting, encouraging and supporting to tidy the house and change bed linen, support with taking care of the animals, set up reminders on tech devices such as Amazon device
Social/General: Support to attend appointments (including gender transition appointments), support to attend local groups/clubs including LGBTQ+ groups and events in a number of locations (these may take place during the evening), support to go shopping, completing daily logs including medication logs
Person Specification:
- Driver with own vehicle is essential to this role. If you use your car whilst working then you will require business use on your car insurance
- Have an awareness of visual impairment and the obstacles the person may face
- Have an understanding of fluctuating conditions such as chronic pain and metal illness and how to manage these
- Have an open minded, flexible and non-judgemental approach to supporting me to engage in my interests and hobbies
- Have the ability to prepare/make fresh meals from scratch
- Have the ability to work with smart technology such as Alex/Siri
- Some basic IT training would be beneficial
- Fluent in spoken and written English as note taking and completing logs will be required
- Previous experience of mental health issues
- Epilepsy awareness
- Diabetes awareness including use of a blood glucose testing machine
- Dog friendly
- Be punctual, reliable and flexible
- Non smoking preferred
- Be honest and trustworthy
- Establish a professional standard of care, which should be maintained at all times
- Be prepared to undertake any training that may be required to meet the needs of the role
- Ensure that due consideration is given to health and safety at all times
