Location: Northallerton, additional support is required to offices at Stokesley and Easingwold
Grade: F
Salary: £23,194 - £24,948 pro rata
Positions Available: Two permanent part time positions
Contract: Part time – 22.2 hours each with potential for additional hours
We’re looking for two permanent Customer Service Officers to join our team and be part of a new Customer Services team.
You’ll be the first point of contact for many of the council’s customers, dealing with a wide range of enquiries on matters as diverse as council tax, housing benefit, garden waste subscriptions, parking permits, electoral registration, planning and not forgetting bin collections! No day is ever the same.
During busy periods your primary role will be to work on the telephones in our contact centre as well as multiple contact channels including serving customers face to face in the council’s reception in Northallerton and provide support in the area offices at Stokesley and Easingwold.
As the first point of contact for many of our customers, you will be responsible for creating that important first impression and delivering excellent customer service.
To be successful in this role you will need to be an excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills and able to work under pressure during the busier times of the year. You will be a team player, empathetic and with a “can do” attitude and a flexible approach. You must be able to act on your own initiative and see a task through to completion.
A flexible approach is essential and the working pattern will cover Monday, Tuesday and Friday, with a potential for additional hours to support service demands.
Previous experience of working in a customer services environment is essential. Full training will be provided, but knowledge of council tax, housing benefit or other local authority delivered services would be an advantage.
