The Position – 1-1 Teaching Assistant (Academic Support)
We are seeking to appoint a full time Teaching Assistant (35 hours or job share will be considered) to support a Year 7 pupil to enable full access to the school’s curriculum in a mainstream classroom. The pupil has profound sensory neural hearing loss with bilateral cochlear implants. Thus part of the support will necessitate 1:1 teaching, especially with MFL and Science. The role will also involve collaborative liaison with teaching staff, parents and external agencies. The overall aim is to ensure the named Year 7 pupil has full access to the curriculum and to encourage independence. This person(s) will be expected to work within a small team that communicates effectively with all stakeholders, therefore must be a strong team player in a wider academic context across the school. This is a fixed term contract terminating on 31st August 2030 or earlier if the named pupil leaves the School and funding is withdrawn.
The successful candidate(s) will need to be educated to GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths and it is desirable that you/they have knowledge/experience of supporting deaf children/young people.
