Job description
YouTube Channel Researcher (Hip Hop/Rap)
£21,000 - £24,000 per annum
Trap Lore Ross, an established YouTube channel, is looking for a full-time researcher to join the production team. The ideal applicant will be passionate about gangster rap and drill music and generally up-to-date with the wider rap scene. The role will include carrying out detailed research on video concepts, drafting scripts and the overall pre-production process. Applicants must use their creativity and technical skills to dive deep into topics to find the best sources and information to meet the channel’s content schedule.
The channel is seeking applicants with a background in journalism or factual television and radio who have a specific interest in drill music. In addition to a demonstrated aptitude for research and fact-checking, the channel is looking for someone who understands the basics of copyright law - pertaining to the use of video on YouTube.
This role does not involve any on-camera video production activities.
The Role
As a researcher and scriptwriter, you’ll be responsible for finding information that helps shape the channel’s main publications. You'll need to be an unrelenting searcher of articles, videos and other materials, as well as have the ability to integrate everything into a cohesive narrative. Accuracy and thorough fact-checking will be important as you work to ensure that each story is as close to the truth as possible.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter who has more than a passing interest in gangster rap and drill music. A familiarity with TV and video research or journalism would be beneficial but not required. Ultimately, you’ll be able - not just eager - to learn, and willing to respond to feedback quickly and effectively.
You will be happy working independently and without the trappings of a larger corporation to support you, as you prefer the freedom, flexibility and responsibility a smaller, creative team provides.
Likely, you’ll be searching for jobs in traditional media not thinking a role like this even existed.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
Expected start date: Immediate start available for the right candidate.
