REMEDI JOB PROFILE: Youth Worker (Derby)
PROFILE
You will be working with children and young people (10-18) and delivering a range of interactive crime prevention and victim awareness programmes in Derby city youth justice team, Schools, alternative education and care settings.
Remedi have a number of programmes designed to educate, empower and support young people with the challenges and choices that they face. Our ‘Restorative Choices’ programmes focus on areas such as child criminal exploitation- county Lines, knife crime, domestic abuse, misogyny and hate crime.

We will provide full training for the role, and we are looking for someone with passion, empathy, confidence and motivation rather than any particular past experience or qualification.
You will be working 20 hours a week on a fully flexible basis to suit the availability of the children and young. As you will be working with children and young people across Nottinghamshire and in Derby (city) it is vital that you drive and have access to a vehicle.
The skills and qualities you will need to do the job well are:
COMMUNICATION- Good communication skills with children and young people is a must as is the ability to communicate in a clear, timely fashion (verbally and in writing) with youth justice professionals. Forming and maintaining relationships with our partner agencies, including community placements is vital to the success of the work we do.
FLEXIBILITY- weekends and early evening working may be required to meet the availability and needs of the children and young people.
MOTIVATION- Many of the young people we support face a number of challenges and can find it difficult to engage. You will need to provide encouragement and support in order to meet their needs and to motivate them to engage.
IT CAPABLE- Basic IT skills are required with the ability to use email, word, excel and electronic calendars. You will be required to produce accurate and professional written reports and update all of the work done on a case management system.
SAFETY- We want you to work safely in all aspects of the role- health and safety, safeguarding for all concerned, data protection, risk assessment etc. Full training will be provided in all of these aspects and we will be looking for someone committed to achieving high standards in regard to all of these issues.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will spend some of your time out in the community working directly with children and young people. Expenses are covered but you will need to drive and have access to your own vehicle. There will be the opportunity to work from an office base, but you can expect to primarily be working from home as your base.

- Starting salary £21,091(Actual £12,052) rising to £23,338 ( Actual £13,336) at the end of Year 2 in role
