Job description
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with physical disabilities, medical conditions, or personal care requirements.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, grooming, and mobility support, while respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans and ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum, participating in classroom activities, and completing assignments.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the specific needs and abilities of each student.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social interaction and independence among students.
- Monitor and track students' progress, documenting observations, and reporting them to relevant staff members.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to students, addressing their individual social and emotional needs.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role within an educational setting, preferably with personal care experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of various physical disabilities, medical conditions, and personal care procedures.
- Experience and confidence in providing personal care tasks, ensuring students' safety and comfort.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal care needs of students.
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of students and the college.
- Relevant qualifications in education, healthcare, or personal care are desirable but not essential.
