Better Healthcare Services are looking for Support Workers to join our team in providing care to children and young people in emergency care packages. These packages of care may be last minute support needed within the family home, or within a service.
You may be required to provide support to children and young people who have physical disabilities and require some level of personal care or children and young people who may struggle with their mental health. The young people may have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD or other disorders. You would be fully prepped on this before attending any shift.
Most packages are located in Norwich, but some may be in other Norfolk areas so being a driver is beneficial but not a requirement.
Main responsibilities:
- Engaging with the young person as per their likes and dislikes
- Maintaining routines set out by the young person's care plans
- Engaging with the families (and at times may be required to provide emotional support)
- Document accurately
- Maintaining a safe environment for the young person in your care and being aware of any risk factors
- You may be required to escort the young person out in the community or attend appointments with them
- Remaining a positive and consistent person for the families and have the ability to build strong, therapeutic relationships
- Being able to safeguard the young people from harm and knowing what to do if you have a concern.
