Our sales proposal professional careers provide you the opportunity to support and lead business development pursuits to capture quality business for the enterprise. As a Writer, you will write portions of and edit entire proposals for commercial projects and programs of various sizes and types.

Based out of any US office or Canadian office, this position requires a strong grasp of style, mechanics, and tone, advanced skills in writing across multiple genres, the ability to communicate technical content to a broad audience, and the ability to synthesize disparate content into a cohesive narrative. Responsibilities for this position include writing portions or the entirety of non-technical proposal sections, collaborating to write technical sections, and editing for grammar and style for a variety of Environmental services submittals to grow and cultivate our private business.

You should be a self-motivated professional with at least three years of demonstrated experience in consulting or a related field, with a demonstrated history of working with teams to develop content. The successful candidate balances leadership with hands-on capability and writing skills.

As a Writer you will:

• With little or no supervision, independently perform research, writing, and editing for various sales/business development efforts
• Work with diverse teams of sales, operations, and technical personnel to create compliant and compelling proposal content
• Interview subject matter experts to develop and write initial drafts of technical proposal content
• Integrate sales messaging into technical content without changing the original meaning
• Independently write non-technical content based off of developed outlines and in accordance with proposal requirements, including tailoring resumes and project description content
• Follow a prescribed style and apply it consistently across an entire document
• Edit content developed by multiple authors into one consistent voice
• Edit content for clarity, comprehension by non-experts, and grammatical correctness
• Read for meaning while editing to flag areas of inconsistency or potential errors
• Follow document management and organization best practices using proposal SharePoint sites, document close-out, and file-sharing
• Follow requirements to prepare compliant proposal deliverables
• Proactively communicate issues, seek input and support, and help develop solutions in a timely manner
• Prioritize own work to meet proposal/team deliverable deadlines
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and active listening skills
• Work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with competing deadlines
• Follow enterprise health and safety policies and procedures and escalate issues, if needed.

• 
  BS/BA in journalism, English, communication, or other humanities or technical discipline OR 5+ years of relevant writing experience in lieu of degree

• 3+ years of relevant experience writing and editing content for multiple document and presentation types, preferably for sales or business development deliverables

• Advanced English writing, editing and proofreading skills, with an eye towards sales messaging, themes, proposal aesthetics, quality, and content

• Team player, comfortable and flexible working with a variety of personalities and team compositions

• Well organized, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently and engage with various stakeholders/reviewers

• Ability to work successfully with diverse teams, from junior Inside Sales staff to senior company leaders

• Ability to work independently and proactively resolve issues to meet deadlines

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Knowledge of company markets, partner/competitor/subconsultant firms, clients, emerging business and industry trends; and the ability to actively integrate that knowledge into work activities

• Marketing and proposal experience for commercial clients

• Self-starter and independent worker

• Collaborative team member

• Work well under pressure and deadlines

• Willing to travel as needed to support pursuits

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (mandatory)
