Honeycomb Worldwide is looking for a freelance writer for Xtalks, its established digital media and webinar production company. This is a freelance position in the B2B media publishing industry. The successful candidate will need to provide their availability to the managing editor every two weeks and write on an as-needed basis.
You will be communicating with a vibrant marketing and production team and should have a strong background in the life sciences and writing. In this role, you will write and create content for our website, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical/biotech, medical device, healthcare and greater life sciences industry. The content includes news articles and blogs. In most cases, you will receive story ideas from the managing editor, but you are also free to pitch your own story ideas for consideration and approval by the managing editor. You will carefully research and collect information to use for writing the news articles and blogs. It will be necessary for you to proofread and edit your work before submitting a good copy for review. If required, you will complete any revisions needed to your work. You should be able to write and edit in American English. The ability to deliver quality work while meeting deadlines is necessary.
Qualifications: Master's or PhD degree in a life sciences-related field essential. Bachelor's degree candidates must have previous experience within the life science industry. Experience with scientific writing and editing/proofing/fact-checking your writing. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or other B2B publishing industry is highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. A practical understanding of on-page SEO is an asset. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will work remotely. Xtalks is based at our Bay Street offices in the heart of Toronto's bustling Yorkville, just a few steps from Bay/Bloor subway station.
