P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Workwear Assistant to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.
Role Summary:
- This is a diverse role with a variety of responsibilities to help in the smooth running of the company’s workwear department. We are seeking a creative and organised individual looking to develop and gain new skills, somebody who likes variety as you will be expected to carry out a range of tasks within the team, particularly during times of staff absences and holidays.
- You will be trained to use the embroidery machine and heat press so you can produce embellished garments for customers.
- As Workwear Assistant you will be regularly liaising with customers and suppliers via email, telephone and face to face, so it is important you are committed to maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.
- You will be using design programmes such as Wilcom Embroidery Studio and Corel Draw to transform customer’s logos into embroidery or heat seal designs, so an interest in creative tasks is advantageous.
- As well as the artistic side of the role, you will be preparing quotations and entering orders into our sales system, so we are looking for someone with good computer skills and attention to detail.
- You will work under the supervision of line management but will also be expected to work under your own initiative. It is important you can manage to your own workload and prioritise accordingly.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the Workwear manager with the day-to-day smooth running of the workwear department.
- Confidently run the embroidery machine and use a heat press to embellish garments (full training will be given).
- Organise the stock when it is received by our goods inwards department so it can be prepared for embellishment.
- Accurately input quotations and orders onto our sales system.
- Use Wilcom Embroidery Studio and Corel Draw to transform logos into embroidery or heat seal designs.
- Stay up to date with product knowledge and understand the importance of providing the right PPE.
- Have the ability to be able to organise your own workload, work towards deadlines and prioritise jobs when required.
- Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision. Always promote safe work activities and ensure staff welfare.
- To attend meetings, exhibitions, shows, courses and training as required by the company.
- Seek advice and support from line manager when required.
- Bring to the attention of your line manager any obstacles which could prevent you from performing your duties.
- Promote a strong supportive working relationship with staff and suppliers, based on family values and trust.
- Ensure that goodwill and relations are maintained with customers & suppliers.
- To bring to the Managements notice, any matter which they consider to be to the Companies benefit.
Person Specification:
- Have an exceptional eye for detail and be able to quality inspect garments to ensure they are up to standard.
- Have great communication skills, being able to confidently liaise with customers and suppliers via email, telephone & face to face.
- Able to work calmly and effectively with key personnel in other company departments to achieve goals.
- Be assertive with a positive attitude.
- Be enthusiastic, conscientious, committed and reliable with a proactive approach to work.
- Provide an excellent level of customer service at all times both face to face and on the telephone.
- To comply with current working policies and procedures.
- Proficient experience of using a computer (especially Word, Excel and Email)
- The ability to use graphic design packages. (Desirable)
- Experience of sewing and fabric knowledge. (Desirable)
- Workwear and PPE Product knowledge. (Desirable)
- Experience of working in a small business. (Desirable)
- GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above.
- Design or Art qualification (Desirable).
- Work calmly & effectively under pressure.
- Excellent timekeeping skills.
- Flexible and able to prioritise a changing “to do” list with the ability to work towards deadlines.
- High level of communication skills, including effective verbal & written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organised.
