Your role at a glance

Are you passionate about Health and Safety, with experience and knowledge of working in a Corporate Office environment?

If so, then this is a fantastic opportunity to join a brand-new team as a Health and Safety Advisor.

In this role you’ll support the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager in the management of all Health and Safety (H&S) risks and compliance requirements. You’ll advise on health and safety risks, issues and incidents and contribute to the development and implementation of H&S procedures and requirements. You’ll effectively liaise across the business and with our key partners (e.g., facilities management provider) to ensure a safe working environment is provided for all L&G employees and as a minimum that legal compliance is met.

What you'll be doing

  • Advise on the application of H&S legislation and L&G policies and procedures to provide support and advice to managers, employees, and core partners (e.g., facilities management teams).
  • Data collects, monitor and analyse H&S data and compliance with legislative and policy requirements, (e.g. via Ecoonline) including providing reports (internal and external), feedback and follow up actions as required, to ensure compliance to process, policy and legislation.
  • Investigate accidents as required and provide guidance on follow up actions as appropriate, capturing lessons learnt and identifying policy, training, and process improvement.
  • Contribute to the provision of H&S training and optimise the use of L&Gs communication tools (e.g. CBT & hub) to ensure successful engagement and communication with our colleagues.
  • Provide direction and support to guide our H&S committees (including collation of packs and minuet taking), ensuring they are effective at managing local H&S risk and opportunities.
  • Management of the H&S mailboxes, including the provision of appropriate advice and escalation to the H,S & Compliance Manager or senior leaders as required, delivering appropriate advice and support to L&G colleagues.
  • Undertake some duties within the scope of professional adviser under the supervision of the H,S & Compliance Manager to develop within the role.

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role you’ll be an excellent communicator with experience working across different teams and divisions. You’ll have the ability to influence others particularly in encouraging others to change behaviour and processes. You’ll be managing high volumes of work, so the ability to work at pace is key, whilst juggling priorities. We are looking for someone with strong people skills and high emotional intelligence, that can take a flexible and collaborative approach when it comes to Health and Safety.

Here’s some of the key experience and skills that we’d love to see:

  • You’ll have a NEBOSH, equivalent qualification, or the willingness work towards this (highly desirable).
  • Basic FM and building management knowledge.
  • Relevant experience in a similar corporate office environment Health and Safety role.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, sound understanding of data systems required.
  • Knowledge and experience of the effective management of H&S in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of current best practice and standards in relation to management of H&S in the workplace.
  • You’ll have a good understanding, and ideally experience of Occupational health and safety in a corporate office environment.
