Job description
As the Workforce Nurse for Recruitment & Retention, you will be responsible for the comprehensive recruitment of Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) and Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) and supporting the recruitment of Internationally Educated Midwives.
The post holder will:
- Lead on the International/European recruitment and retention of registered nurses and national recruitment and retention of health care support workers.
- Tailor the Pastoral Support Nurse role to support IEN working towards Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration and their integration with the ward team.
- Act as the lead nursing resource, initial point of contact and advisor on all issues pertaining to national and international nurse recruitment and retention.
- Utilise expert knowledge and experience to support clinical leaders with the probationary review and capability process for newly recruited IEN.
- Support and guide line managers of eligible UHD employees with international nurse registration through the process, to achieve NMC registration.

- Manage and progress all direct job applications from internationally educated nurses in accordance with the current Code of practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England.
- Implement recruitment initiatives for the attraction and recruitment of HCSW within the Trust to meet business need, ensuring they are delivered within agreed objectives, targets and quality standards and cost constraints.
- To develop effective working relationships, working collaboratively with Nursing & Midwifery Directors, Deputy Directors, Heads of Service and HR colleagues, taking an active role in influencing and supporting directorate strategic and operational objectives for recruitment and retention of HCSW and IEN.
- To ensure the delivery of a cost effective, safe and high quality service for the Trust, providing leadership and support to the team.
- To understand and promote issues concerning equality and diversity, inclusion and engagement, ensuring these are integral to the work being undertaken by the team.
- Work in close partnership with the Resourcing and Education Teams to achieve required levels of recruitment to IEN and HCSW positions.
- Support and contribute to the Accelerated Development Programme for IEN in collaboration with the Workforce Lead, Lead Nurse Workforce and Deputy Workforce Nurse
- Contribute to the development of the annual IEN business case and initiatives that recognise IEN prior experience
