Producing world-class wine is at the centre of everything we do at Digby Fine English. We are seeking a new member of our team to continue building the success of Digby’s English sparkling wine.
As Digby’s Winery Production Operative, you will:
The Winery Production Operative is a permanent role based on-site at our brand new, state-of-the-art winery facility in Madehurst, West Sussex, and we are open to full-time, part-time or flexible workers. The role primarily involves work throughout the year carrying out key winemaking tasks associated with the later stages of sparkling wine production, e.g. loading and unloading of stillages and riddling cages; disgorging; labelling; order fulfilment; stock control; and cleaning of the site/facilities. The role reports to Digby’s Production Manager, Daan Tant.
Responsibilities:
- Loading and unloading of wine riddling cages and stillages
- Disgorging of sparkling wine
- Labelling and packaging of sparkling wine
- Helping to dispatch pallets of wine for trade orders, with a view to encompass direct to consumer dispatch later in 2023
- Assisting with stock control and reconciliations
- Assisting with record keeping of goods received, goods despatched, and work orders performed
- Shared responsibilities for cleaning equipment and facilities
- Occasional duties arising, for example
- Assisting Production Manager with other matters
- Assisting Tasting Room team with sales events e.g. for external summer festivals
- Customer service and communications as it pertains to fulfilment of orders
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday 8:00 – 4:30, with a half hour for lunch
- Working patterns under consideration
- Permanent Full-time
- Permanent Part-time (minimum two days per week)
- Flexi – we often have a need for flexible hours
Salary
- Full-time: £21k - £23k pa dependent on experience
- Part-time or hourly: £11.00 - £13.00 per hour dependent on experience
Requirements
Key Skills:
- Focus on achieving world-class quality and customer service at all stages of Digby’s operations
- Forklift experience highly preferred, with forklift drivers certification or progress towards it very helpful
- Previous experience as a production operative or a warehouse operative helpful
- Willingness to learn on the job
- Ability to lift and handle cases of wine up to 25 kg
- Prior winery experience helpful but not required
- A positive attitude and teamwork as a key member of a small winery team
- Initiative to perform tasks and improve processes while performing duties with the team or working alone
- Detail oriented and able to carefully track and monitor our operations
- Clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle essential
