A new and exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for wine & food.

We are looking for a committed, proactive staff member for our new Wine Shop, located at Burwash Manor Farm. The successful candidate will be working for an expanding, family run business and have plenty of opportunity for self development and growth within the industry. You would be working alongside the owner to promote and grow the business whilst offering exceptional customer service in our “informed but informal” manner. As part of your role you will also assist in running of events, managing inventory, ensure that quality and safety controls are adhered to and set business objectives to increase profits and maximise customer satisfaction.

You must be a self starter who shows initiative, willing to dedicate time to expanding your knowledge on wine and develop strong relationships with your customers. You should have excellent problem solving, observational and communication skills.

Personal development

The Wee Vinoteca is committed to investing in its staff. All staff will be funded for qualifications in wine through WSET and will have opportunities to grow and develop business skills. There would be opportunities for motivated individuals to develop skills in the following areas:

  • Digital Marketing: From managing our social media to planning marketing mails
  • Events: To plan, market and run informed but informal events
  • Web design: To improve and maintain our website, including SEO work.

Hours of Work

We are looking for someone to work 36 - 38 hours a week. The majority of these hours will be day shifts (10:00 - 17:00) but will include the odd evening shift for events. Whilst the successful candidate must be able to work weekends, we would be looking to work on a rolling rota to create a good Work / Life balance.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist customers with purchasing wines from the shop: including instore purchases, fulfilling online orders and our monthly Wine Subscriptions.
  • Planning and taking part in promotional events: Including public and private wine tasting.
  • Ensuring you are knowledgeable of the ever changing new products and services to ensure customers receive exceptional knowledge, service and standards.
  • Maintain excellent upkeep and hygiene standards across the business.
  • To be actively involved in the selection process of the wine range.
  • Maintaining a fun and safe environment for customers and staff.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Work a mix of weekdays and weekends, with occasional evening shifts
  • A motivated, self starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for food and drink.
  • A thirst for self improvement and continual learning on the job.
  • Up to date with hygiene and health & safety standards.

Preferred:

  • Experience in wine.
  • Driving licence.
  • Personal licence holder.
  • Experience with events.
