Job Title: Wellbeing & Benefits Information Worker – Peripatetic
Salary: Grade 6 - £12.42 per hour
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Post holder will be required to work from any one of our centres or at Ayr or Crosshouse Hospital which may change at short notice in order to provide cover where needed.
Reports to: Adult Carers Development Officer
Overall Objectives: East Ayrshire Carers Centre provide information, advice and support to carers throughout East Ayrshire.
The Wellbeing & Benefits Information Worker will work between our centres in Kilmarnock, Dalmellington and Cumnock to support our wider Adult Carers Support Teams, as well as Ayr and Crosshouse Hospitals to provide cover for our Hospital Discharge Project.
They will be responsible for identifying, registering and completing Adult Carer Support Plans/Reviews to identify the wellbeing and financial needs of unpaid adult carers within East Ayrshire . The post holder will have a full working knowledge of the current benefits in Scotland to help unpaid carers maximise their income
The post holder will deliver information, advice and support in relation to carers rights in line with the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.
Must have and currently hold a full driving licence for a minimum of three years and have access to own vehicle throughout their working hours
Major Functions/Accountabilities:
- Provide a direct service to individual carers by providing; an assessment of needs via an Adult Carers Support Plan; benefits and money management advice; wellbeing; social inclusion; case management – this will include home visits were appropriate.
- Identifying, completing and processing relevant grants and benefit applications such as Carers Allowance, disability benefits etc
- Maintain consultation systems to ensure services are sensitive and responsive to carers needs.
- Engage in marketing and publicity activities to reach hidden carers and ensure carers have a high public profile.
- Support and develop carers support groups and networks.
- Represent and promote the project; assist in the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluating of training programmes for carers, health professionals, volunteers and the general public.
- Identify gaps in service provision in consultation with carers and assist the Adult Support Team to develop strategies to address deficiencies.
- Provide monthly statistics to ensure mechanisms are in place to feed into quarterly reports.
- Any other tasks or duties as reasonably requested
