MB389: Welding Trainer
Location: Lyneham
Salary: £36,250
Working Hours: 8-5pm Mon to Fri (2pm Wednesday finish).

Overview:
First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit multiple Welding Trainers on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Lyneham depot.
The Welder Trainer position isn't an ordinary Trainer position. This position will provide an opportunity to deliver welder training to the trades men and women of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).
This opportunity would also support you gaining a teaching qualification!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver welder training utilising MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and OA to military trainees aged 17 years and over
- Conduct visual and destructive testing of welds
- Conduct course and trainee administration
- Support trainees with any specific learning difficulties (SPLD’s)
- Conduct assessment, invigilation and marking of practical, theoretical examinations and weekly progression tests
- Deliver remedial training and revision (during working hours) as required
- Prepare lesson plans, training aids and trainee supporting materials
- Regularly review course material and content to ensure it is current and evolves to support new equipment and technological advances
- Ensure trainees develop through mentoring and coaching
- Supervise trainees and visitors to ensure full compliance with H&S requirements
- Ensure risks are adequately identified, assessed and minimised
- Maintain training equipment and training aids
- Assist the Equipment Support Department (ESD) for welding related repairs and manufacturing tasks
- Maintain a Continuous Personal Development (CPD) record in respect of new technologies, equipment, processes and teaching methods
- Participate with department visits
- Carry out any other tasks as directed by your Line Manager
Skills and Qualifications:
- A welding related apprenticeship and/or qualification to a recognised Level 3
- Class 1 Metalsmith or Shipwright of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers or Royal Engineers welder/fabricator or Royal Navy or Royal Air Force welder
- Proven experience in a welding environment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
- DBS cleared or willing to undergo clearance
Desirable skills and qualifications:
- Experience of coded welding
- Experience of metal fabrication
- Qualified and/or experienced in welding inspection (for example CSWIP 3.0)
- Coaching and mentoring experience
- A Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET), (training is provided if not already held)
- Knowledge of a military environment and equipment
- Knowledge of the REME trade Structure and operational requirements
