About The Role
Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be paid and day released to PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training. You will learn how to work safely, work efficiently, use technical information, prepare and use MIG, TIG and MMA welding equipment.
At the end of the programme, you will achieve the General Welder (Arc Processes) apprenticeship standard. Overall duration 18 months.
Joining the JB Corrie’s team as a General Welding Apprentice, your role will focus on:
- Interpret technical information
- Checking that materials are suitable
- Prepare materials for welding operations
- Position the materials to be welded
- Set up the welding equipment
- Making the joints to the specified dimensions using appropriate welding techniques
- Make adjustments to settings as required
- Visually inspect components
- Inspect completed components
- Dress finished weld surfaces
- Restore the work area
- Auto-enrolled into the company pension scheme after qualification period

To be considered for the role of a Welding Apprentice, you will have a keen eye for detail and take pride in completing work to a high quality level. You will also require the following skills and qualifications:
- 2 GCSE's at grade C (4) or above, or equivalents in maths and English are essential
