Job Title: Cook/ kitchen assistant

Reports to: Head Chef

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-time

Where are we?

Mamawu café is a fantastic cafe in a beautiful village near Emsworth. Situated on the A259 there is easy access to bus routes and Southbourne train station, in addition there is plenty of free parking near by for drivers.

Mamawu café is a beautiful clean vibrant café that offers a good selection of cakes, great coffee, tasty food. The café also offers gluten free and vegan options serving across the spectrum from young families to mature clients as wells people working from home. We are also dog friendly and cyclist are welcome.

What is the role?

Do you have a passion for food and delivering a fantastic customer experience?

Supporting the Head Chef and other members of the team. Driving the business forward, supervising the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.

The menu consists of breakfast, brunch, light bites, lunches, vegetarian & vegan options alongside a small amount of daily changing specials.

There is also scope to make your mark by doing monthly pop ups and evening services.

The applicant must have a "can do" attitude along with a positive and calm manner.

Be available to work weekends and Bank Holidays as required.

Duties and responsibilities

· Follow the directions of the Head Chef

· Plan and execute menus in collaboration with other colleagues

· Always ensure adequacy of supplies

· Manage ingredients that should be frequently available daily

· Give attention productivity of the kitchen such as speed and food quality

· Ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety and hygiene standards

· To ensure a clean and organised workstation is maintained at all times, Health and Safety

· Clean and maintain all areas of the kitchen and other relevant areas at all times, Health and Safety

· To undertake relevant Health and Safety training including COSHH and Food standards

· To always uphold excellent standards of Health and Safety.

  • To ensure all Company and statutory requirements are met in relation to health, safety and 5 star standard food hygiene regulations, working closely with the kitchen team as appropriate.

Salary: up to £11.50 p/h
